Dr. De Marco started working in HIV care because he has a passion for taking care of people. But what keeps him in HIV care is the genuine connections he makes with the people he takes care of.
“You get to know patients. You get to follow them for a long period of time and to really see the peaks and valleys of their lives,” he says. “That is a truly special thing to be a part of someone’s life in such a personal way.”
That’s why Dr. De Marco loves working at Vivent Health so much. For sure he loves that we offer so many services, which allow him to make sure his patients are getting access to all the care they need to thrive. And he also loves how much medicine can do for people living with HIV today.
“What HIV medication can do for people and the improvement in their lives is very comforting,” he says. “The news is very good regarding prognosis and living with HIV. We have many wonderful medications that are very easy for patients to take that allow them to live a long, healthy life.”
For Dr. De Marco, it goes even deeper than that, right to the heart of the organization—the community of nurturing it creates.
“What makes Vivent Health so special is there’s a real personal touch to what we can provide for patients here,” he says. “We want everybody to walk away feeling heard, feeling respected, and feeling like they belong in this community.”
Dr. De Marco has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Johns Hopkins University. He earned his Medical Degree and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas in Houston. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
