Vivent Health Applauds Passage of Colorado Bill That Will Lower Out-of-Pocket Costs and Improve Access to Care

Vivent Health is excited by the recent passage of SB23-195 in Colorado. Health insurance companies have increasingly used “copay accumulator” policies to boost profits at the expense of people living with HIV or other chronic conditions. SB23-195 will require private insurers to count most copays toward a patient’s deductible, even if it was paid by a patient assistance program or other third-party. As a result, this bill will lower out-of-pocket costs for vulnerable Coloradans and improve access to essential care. We thank the General Assembly for passing this critical legislation and urge Governor Polis to swiftly sign it into law.
