Vivent Health Awarded Grant from Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to Expand Mobile HIV Prevention and Harm Reduction
DETROIT – Vivent Health, one of the nation’s leading providers of HIV care, treatment, and prevention, is proud to announce it has been awarded an $80,000 grant from Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan (CFSEM) to expand community-based outreach and health services to people living with and at risk of HIV.
This funding will support the purchase and operation of a new mobile outreach van, enabling Vivent Health Michigan (formerly known as UNIFIED HIV Health & Beyond) to expand HIV prevention services — including HIV testing and harm reduction to prevent drug overdose– to Detroit, Wayne County, and the surrounding areas. Vivent Health currently provides mobile prevention and harm reduction services in Washtenaw and neighboring counties.
For many individuals, clinic-based HIV testing is out of reach due to transportation challenges, fear of stigma, or previous negative healthcare experiences. Mobile outreach removes these barriers by delivering these services directly to neighborhoods, workplaces, community events, and trusted gathering spaces — making testing and prevention accessible, convenient, and nonjudgmental.
“This grant reflects the Community Foundation’s strong commitment to expanding access to high quality healthcare and improving health outcomes of our communities across southeast Michigan,” said Brandon Hill, Ph.D., President & CEO of Vivent Health. “Mobile outreach is a proven HIV and STI prevention strategy because it meets people where they are. By bringing lifesaving services directly into the community, we can reduce stigma, prevent new HIV and other infections, and connect individuals to care earlier — especially those who might otherwise go unserved.”
