October 18th: Deadline to register online

Voter ID

If you have voted in Illinois in the past, you do not need any form of ID.

First time voters will need to provide 2 forms of identification.

A driver’s license/state ID number, social security number, or a document with your name and address all qualify.

Mail-In Voting/Absentee Ballot

Illinois will mail a mail-in vote application to every active registered voter (voted in at least one election since 2018).

Applications must be returned via mail or in-person.

October 29th: Deadline to request absentee ballot.

November 3rd: mail-in ballots must be postmarked by this date.

Mail-in ballots must be received by November 17th.

Mail-in ballots can be turned in at any time at either in person early voting locations OR on election day.

November 3rd 7pm: Deadline to use absentee ballot drop off.

Locate absentee ballot drop off locations.

It is recommended to return the ballot by mail by October 27th or

Sign and return the ballot by dropbox by 7pm on November 3rd.

September 24th- November 2nd: Early voting dates and hours vary by voting location

Election Day Voting

November 3rd 6am-7pm: poll times

Find your voting location.

You may legally request off work up to 2 paid hours on Election Day to vote in Illinois.
